Noahallam Zand
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Noahallam Zand (1735-1759) was one of Karim Khan's children before he was 'shah' of Iran. Early in his childhood Noahallam was moved from the west of Iran, in Lorestan, to the south of Iran to Bushehr where he became fascinated with the sea and sailors trading with the East India Company at the time.
During his teenage years, to the regret of his mother, Noahallam started working for local fisherman. He soon started sailing to India with trade sailors and quickly climbed the ranks to become second to the captain on a boat known as 'barradarian' which translates to brothers. The voyages he logged do not give much insight into where he traveled to, but accounts written in after by supposedly a good friend allude to an untimely and early death.
Noahallam's history is poorly documented and the circumstances of his death are unknown, except that he did at sea.
