Northeast Kings Education Centre (NKEC), opened in September 2001, is located on Bains Road in Canning.

The school has replaced Kings County Academy and Cornwallis District High School, respectively.

NKEC's students mostly come from the Canning, Kentville, and Aldershot areas, after attending Kings County Academy, Aldershot School or Glooscap Elementary. The school receives most of its competition from Horton High School, whose students come from New Minas, Wolfville and Port Williams, and Central Kings High School (known as CK), whose students come from Coldbrook. The schools are located in Wolfville and Cambridge, respectively.

NKEC has a strong rivalry with these schools.

[edit] Facilities

The school includes a large gymnasium, a cafeteria, a small library and many class rooms. It has a stage that opens for viewing in the cafeteria or the gymnasium. Often, the cafeteria is referred to as a "cafetorium" during preformances.

[edit] Athletics

2007- In just their second year of having a football program, NKEC went 5-3 in the regular season and went on to win the Tier 2 Provincal Championship.
