Nileas Kamarados
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nileas Kamarados (1847-1922) was a famous and influential cantor and teacher of Byzantine music in Istanbul. The archive includes theoretical writings and musical compositions by both Kamarados and Vlachopoulos (his student and son-in-law), valuable music manuscripts of the 19th century, as well as printed books and periodicals of that period. Thus it demonstrates the development of Byzantine chant in the multicultural society of the Ottoman Empire at the turn of the 20th century. He had 7 children, and 8 surviving descendants.
