Niklas Mattsson (b. February 26, 1983, Los Angeles, California, USA) is a retired Finnish ice hockey player.
Niklas is the son of Markus Mattsson, a former NHL and WHA Goaltender.
[edit] Playing Career
Niklas played for Ilves as a junior player from 1997 to 2001. After playing for Ilves, Mattsson spent one year in USA playing for Union College in NCAA. Mattsson played the following season for Central Texas Blackhawks in the AWHL.
After two seasons in North America, Mattsson returned to Finland and was played for TuTo in the Finnish Mestis. Mattsson played only 8 games for TuTo and played also for Swedish Division 1 teams Borlänge HF and Tvåstad Cobras during the 2003/04 season, finally joining Tappara and playing for it's A-Junior-level team.
Mattsson played two seasons for Suomi-sarja team HC Montreal Tampere before retiring from active playing in 2006.
