Nik Keating was born in Dayton, Ohio to Kris Quimby (Welsh) and Pat Katinsky (Polish, from Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine). He graduated from The Art Institute of Seattle in Seattle, Washington, where he studied drama.

Keating has done a variety of regional programs in the Pacific Northwest, such as Evening Magazine as well as Northwest Afternoon. He currently does local commercial work in the Pacific Northwest and is best known as appearing in the Vern Fonk television advertisements.
