[edit] Advert tag
Okay, someone removed the advert tag and cited nearly all missing citations to the school's website. The article does sound like an advertisement for the school, and thus does not fit Wikipedia's guidelines. It is replete with grandiose and praising adjectives. For example:
- "one of the top-ranked private schools in New York City"
- "is considered one of the finest girls' schools in the US"
- "known for its outstanding faculty and employs a number of immensely talented individuals"
- "Each and every member of the visual arts department is, too, deserving of recognition, and are constantly showing their works in galleries throughout the city and the whole of the United States."
- "As a nationally leading, competitive independent school, NBS's academic curriculum is designed to teach girls to take responsibility for their own work, and to face challenges and find ways to to surmount them"
- "Nightingale boasts an outstanding Classics department"
- "The girls receive superior results, qualifying them for college credit"
- "Nightingale boasts a highly competitive admissions process "
These kinds of statements are not fitting for Wikipedia. For that reason, the advert tag is warranted.65.28.9.8 02:14, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sort it out
Someone with better Wikipedia and/or educational credentials than mine please strip this self-satisfied brochure-bullshit of its weasel-worded claims. No doubt it is a fine school but surely any searchable and thus cited achievements could speak for themselves Plutonium27 (talk) 16:14, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
In addition, I believe that several events nightingale has participated in are not mentioned, such as local exchange days with other boy schools —Preceding unsigned comment added by Whiteknight666 (talk • contribs) 02:32, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Sort it out
Which part of this article is "brochure-bullshit"? Please define your terms or point out the specific "brochure-bullshit." A claim without specific support is nonsense- a general Wikipedia rule that applies to all. Wikicorrections (talk)
- Please, don't modify or delete other peoples contributions in this talkpage, for instance like this. A list of "brochure-bullshit" is given in the section Advert tag above. Just one example: "Nightingale boasts an outstanding Classics department", as reference in this article only a link the to school's own homepage is given, that's not sufficient. --Cyfal (talk) 21:05, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
