[edit] Superconvergence

Hi Nick, and welcome here. I saw your remark on Talk:Superconvergence. My experience is the same, "superconvergence" means "converges faster than expected". Please be bold and change the article. Don't worry too much about making mistakes, I will check what you are doing. I'm not sure what to do with the meaning of "superconvergence" described in the article (basically quadratic convergence). I've never come across it, but perhaps it's best to leave it in. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 14:28, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Welcome!

Hello, Nick Levine, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

I saw that you Added Coming of Age in Karhide (how come this wasn't in the list?)

As far as I can tell, it's not a very comprehensive list - I added all the A Fisherman of the Inland Sea stories myself. Be bold and fix problems where you find them, and have fun! Again, welcome! -Ikkyu2 03:10, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User talk pages

Hi. I deleted the new page which I don't think you meant to create. Nice try, though! Deb 18:29, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Aha, I had inadvertantly created a User page (which DES has now deleted), when what I meant to do was edit their talk page. Nick Levine 04:25, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] How do I send a message to another user?

(copied from Wikipedia:Help desk): A user sent me a message (so: I saw a "you have a message" banner next time I refreshed a WP page) and I'd like to reply. Do I just add text to their talk pages? Or what? Thanks. Nick Levine 18:40, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

If you simply edit a user's talk page, that usee will see the "you have a message" banner the next time s/he displays a page. Usually you want to start a messege in a new section unless it is a response or followup to a message already on that user's page. You can copy the message that was left for you along with your response, to show context. i often do this, but it is not required. if you do this, leave a note that soem of the text was so copied. [edit] Vandalism

The person who vandalised Feminism just vandalised your user page. Dandin1 23:58, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fundamentals of CLOS

Hi Nick, I just noticed your excellent Fundamentals of CLOS are still not referenced in CLOS, which is really a pity. Of course, that had to be changed.

Now for some praise: Last year when I started to investigate if Common Lisp was a tool worth to acquire, your "document" was among the most valuable. It provides a clear, structured, step-by-step introduction to the set of paradigms that comprise OOP, and how to actually make use of them. Recommended reading for everybody interested in using CL for development.

[edit] Notability of Ravenbrook Limited

A tag has been placed on Ravenbrook Limited requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WebHamster 06:46, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Aha, I take your point: no external sources. I will take off the "hangon" tag. Nick Levine 06:55, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Midsummer Common

Hi. My reasoning was that if you are referring to Garlic Row, Oyster Road, Cheddars Lane, then I think that their reference comes from Stourbridge fair not Midsummer Fair (for a reference to this I can refer to the book Cambridge Street Names (Ronald Gray)). To be fair, you do mention both fairs but I think there is a lot more to be said about Midsummer Fair that would warrant its own section in the Midsummer Common article. But in a one sentence summary of the fair don't you agree the fact is a little secondary? Smb1001 20:16, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Yo ho, I did ask for that. Entertainingly, most of these suggestions are in areas where I reverted vandalism at some time in the past. My fault for not consistently marking edits as Minor? Nick Levine (talk) 22:45, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
