From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia! Your test worked, and thank you for reverting or removing it yourself. The best way to do tests in the future would be to use the sandbox. You can look at these pages as well: how to edit a page, the tutorial, and how to write a great article. All of these pages are good places to start. Again, thanks, and we hope that you will like Wikipedia. Makemi 05:42, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Elaine Hartley

A tag has been placed on Elaine Hartley, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, article #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Tdl1060 19:39, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

I have also tagged Nancy siddoway for speedy deletion as it seems to me that it has been copied from a newspaper or TV website. I don't know which, but it reads like journospeak. Likewise, Leonard Fraser was a copy from ABC Australia, and Kemal Kolenovic seems to be a pick and mix from an AP report. Please do not submit copyrighted material to Wikipedia. [edit] AfD nomination of Filippo Raciti

An editor has nominated Filippo Raciti, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Filippo Raciti and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit] Campaign websites as Wikipedia articles

Hello, Nick. I've been looking over the series of articles you've recently created (as well as your other recent edits), and I am impressed by your apparent enthusiasm for politics. However, I'm sorry to have to inform you that it simply isn't appropriate to take whole pages of text straight off of campaign websites and turn them into newly-created Wikipedia articles. Doing that is completely contrary to both the purpose of Wikipedia and its basic rules and guidelines, above all Neutral Point of View and Use of copyrighted material.

I expect that, in all likelihood, all of those new articles will shortly be deleted from Wikipedia for that reason. So please refrain from creating any more such articles that you may have in mind. But please keep contributing to Wikipedia. If you take the time to learn more about the guidelines for editing, etc. I'm sure you will make some valuable contributions.

Regards, Cgingold 13:29, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of Copyvio tags

Hello, Nick. Please don't be removing the Copyvio tags from those 3 articles -- that's against Wikipedia rules. And doing it without logging in doesn't make it okay, either. (It only leaves a black mark on your record.) If you really want to contribute to Wikipedia, please read up on the guidelines. Any time you need help, if you don't know where to get an answer, all you have to do is add the {{helpme}} tag on your talk page, along with your question. Cgingold 06:59, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Elaine Hartley

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Elaine Hartley, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. ... discospinster talk 02:22, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] June 2007

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Roger Jennings. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Chris 21:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
