[edit] GARBAGE PLATE
I grew up in Rochester and am very familiar with the "Garbage Plate" at Nick Tahoe's. I remember a time when using the term Garbage Plate at Nick's was frowned upon, I wonder when it became acceptable to do so?
- Probably around the time Nick's started using the slogan "home of the garbage plate" on their to-go cups. ALKIVAR™

I noticed that the article states there are many other regional restraunts that have a similar theme. I wasn't sure if Fairport Hots or Penfield Hots actually existed because I'm from the other side of the city, but I know there is an Irondequoit Hots (near House of Guitars on Titus Ave) and Greece Hots (near Greece Apollo Middle School on Maiden Lane). It's not like it makes much of a difference though. I was also wondering if adding a reference to white hots would be valid. White hots are a type of hot dog local to Rochester and are served at Tahous either on a plate or alone. I was just wondering because no one I have ever talked to that is not from western New York has ever heard of a white hot. - martianpenguin
- wow I had forgotten about white hots... add a section to hot dog about them and link to it :) ALKIVAR™ 07:08, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Name Change
Should it be noted the resturant has now changed names. It's still owned by the same person, but a big argument with his family or something brought a name change, at least to the Gate's location. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.207.170.179 (talk • contribs) 16:45, 29 June 2007
- It was only the spinoff location that was sold and renamed. —Cryptic 14:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- You know, this makes absolutely no sense. Everyone knows Nick Tahou's as a brand name. Why would anyone in their right mind want to change a well established name? With Nick Tahou's he was guaranteed to have business on just the name. Oh, and dont bring it up with the owner. I was there last year getting a plate, and started to ask the owner why the name change and he stopped smiling and looked angry and said in a quick, matter of fact way, "This is Steve T's now." Pretty much end of the conversation right there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.50.141.112 (talk) 21:04, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
