Nicolás Canales is a Chilean international footballer from Santiago, Chile. He was born on June 27, 1985 and he currently plays for Union Española. Canales was part of Benfica B's (Youth squad). He debuted with Universidad de Chile.
Canales debuted with Universidad de Chile where he won the Apertura in 2004 and reached the final of the Clausura in 2005.
He makes 5 goals in 9 matches in the Liga de Honra and is expected to return to Benfica earlier then expected.
On August 1, 2007 he signed with Romanian squad CFR Cluj. However his time there was short, because at the beginning of 2008 Canales returned to Chile to play for Unión Española.

Canales is also an international footballer since he played for his Senior team. He also participated in the U-20 2005 Sudamericano in Colombia where he was top goalscorer with Matias Fernandez. He went on to later play at the 2005 U-20 World Cup in Holland.
