Nico Perrone

Nicola Carlo Perrone (born Bari, Italy, April 27, 1935) is an Italian essayist, historian (XVIII - XX centuries), and journalist. He firstly discovered papers on the plot against Enrico Mattei, the Italian state tycoon for oil.

He is the author of twenty books, and some fifty shorter essays published in Italy, Denmark, USA. Author also of a thousand of leading articles and other contributes to Italian and Swiss newspapers.

Degree in Diplomatic History (summa cum laude), scholarships University College Dublin (Ireland), and Sofia University, Bulgaria.

Charged to study the foreign labour laws for ENI, the Italian state oil holding. President Enrico Mattei appointed him as expert with the Italian minister for state reforms. Responsible for share participations with another Italian state holding. Then appointed by an Italian publishing company.

Invited in USA with the International Visitors Program, received the honorary citizenship of the State of Nebraska (1986).

Co-editor for the Italian monthlies Storia in Rete (since 2005), and Giano (since 2003). Editor (Dedalo Publ., Bari, 1980-84) for America (a series of books).

At the University of Bari, Associate Professor of Contemporary History, and American History (since 1977), director of the Institute of Modern and Contemporary History (1988-90, 1991-94), professor for the European Module in Social and Economic History of European Integration (1994-97).

Visiting Professor in Denmark (Roskilde University, since 1991 - Copenhagen Business School, 1992, 1993 - University of Copenhagen, 2003), in Switzerland (Roskilde University master at Lugano, 1998, 2000), and in USA (Foreign Policy Research Institute, 1983). Host Professor, University of Padua, Italy (1981, 1999).

Founder member, vice president (1995-96), member of the board (1991-98) for The European Education Programme on Society-Science & Technology, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium (master Society, Science & Technology in Europe). Member of the Advisory Board for the Federico Caffè Center at Roskilde University. Workshop on the European Research towards the XXI Century, Institute for Prospective Technological Studies, Seville, Spain (1996).

Contributor for RAI, he Italian state broadcasting company (since 1982), and for several newspapers in Italy and Switzerland (since 1971). Contributor for the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (Cologne, Germany, 2001). Contributor for the Monthly Review.

Co-editor for Storia in Rete (since 2005), an Italian monthly review. Editor for America (1980-84), a series on the USA (Bari, Dedalo Publishng).
