Nico Claesen

Nicolaas "Nico" Claesen (born 7 October 1962) is a former Belgian football (soccer) player.

He earned 36 caps and scored 12 goals from 1983 to 1990 for the Belgium national football team, and was in the squad for three major tournaments: Euro 1984, the 1986 FIFA World Cup, where he scored three goals as Belgium finished in fourth, and the 1990 FIFA World Cup.

Among the many club teams he played for were Tottenham Hotspur, who bought him from Standard Liege in 1986/87 for £600,000 and sold him for £550,000 to Antwerp FC in August of 1988. He also played for VfB Stuttgart.
