[edit] Leyton Orient
Shorey started his career at Leyton Orient as an apprentice in 1998,[1] but after breaking into the Orient first team with occasional appearances in the 1999–2000 and 2000–01 seasons, he caught the eye of Reading's manager at the time, Alan Pardew.

On 1 August 2006, he committed his future to the club, signing a new deal to keep him at the club until June 2009.[3] On 5 May 2007, it was announced that he had taken second place in the 2006–07 Player of the Season vote by the Reading fans.[4]
At the end of the 2006–07 season, Shorey was linked with a move to either Newcastle United or West Ham United, but looked set to sign an improved deal with Reading.[5] On 4 August 2007 Reading manager Steve Coppell revealed that Shorey had turned down an improved contract offer,[6] but the player has confirmed he has no intentions of leaving Reading.[7]
It appears now that Reading will let Nicky Shorey to leave the the club as they are relegated and want to cut down there wage bills and ensure that he does not go on a free transfer as he has only two years left on his contract, West Ham are in the front line snap him up for a fee around £4m, so is Arsenal

Pundits had suggested that Shorey could make the step up to the senior squad,[13] and on 26 May 2007, Steve McClaren selected him in his England squad to face Brazil in a friendly match, and Estonia in a Euro 2008 qualifier.[14] He made his full England début in a 1-1 draw against Brazil at Wembley on 1 June 2007,[15] impressing many,[16][17] but did not make the bench for the match against Estonia.[18]
