Nick Calathes (Greek Νίκος Καλάθης Nikos Kaláthis, born on February 7, 1989 in Winter Park, Florida) is a Greek American basketball player. He attends the University of Florida where he is currently in his freshman year.
Calathes left Lake Howell High School as the leading scorer in Seminole County history.[4] He teamed with fellow Gator Chandler Parsons to help Lake Howell to a 31-3 record and a state title in 2006-07.
Calathes has a dual citizenship of both the United States and Greece and has agreed to join the Greek junior national team in 2008 or later.
Calathes is only one of four players in the Donovan era to have been offered a scholarship as a high school sophomore.[5] He is currently the leading scorer on the Gator roster at 16 points per game, and also leads the team in assists per game(6.1).
In March 2008, Calathes was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team, as well as the All-SEC Freshman Team. He and Kentucky's Patrick Patterson were previously named co-SEC Freshmen of the Year.
His older brother Pat plays basketball for Saint Joseph's University. They both led their respective teams in points per game during the 2007-2008 season.
