Nicholas Tower

Nicholas Tower, situated on Independence Square, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago is the second tallest building in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as in the English-speaking Caribbean. It has an elliptical floor plate and stands 21^[1] floors tall and 88 Meters high. Construction was completed in 2003 and each floor, 8,000 square feet (700 m²) of space, was rented out at a cost of $96,000 a month^[2] (as of 2005). It is a blue glass tower.

The building was constructed on the site of the Trinidad Union Club, a 136-year-old private club.^[3], which now occupies the penthouse suite of the Nicholas Tower.^[3] The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, another former tenant of the Union Club building,^[3] also occupies this building. Incurance Giant Clico occupies the 9th floor of the tower. Caribbean Airlines' (The national airline of Trinidad and Tobago) head office is also located in the Nicholas Tower.^[3]^[4]

While the Nicholas Tower is currently the second tallest building in Port of Spain, the proposed Waterfront International Project is slated to include two 26-storey office towers. (this will be called the Government Campus Plaza)^[1]

Also, the waterfront will contain new skyscrapers that will exceed the height of the Nicholas Tower. This will leave Trinidad with a total of 19 skyscrapers. Another building that is under construction has had its height increased from 15 to 26 floors which will make it taller than the government campus plaza. The broadgate building will cost $500 million TTD. The waterfront is growing quickly.
