Nice Collective is a designer clothing brand based out of San Francisco. Founded in 1997 by Joe Haller and Ian Hannula, the clothing line has amassed a cult following by offering men modern clothing that combines strength & ruggedness with luxury & refinement. Their clothing are sold in specialty boutiques in the United States, Canada, England, Italy and Japan.
Joe Haller was raised in New York and had a career in medical biology which he did during the day. At night he produced dance music and organized parties in clubs around New York City. Ian Hannula was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and studied combat photography in the Marine Corps. Ian created dance music event in Atlanta and was a resident dj in two top club nights. Joe and Ian met in San Francsisco in 1995 and instantly struck a chord with their common interests in art, music, and fashion. They chose to start Nice Collective as a company that would encompass a number of projects, including a club night, a record label, a DJ agency and a clothing line. Clothing became the top priority; neither had any formal training in fashion. They started with experimental pieces, such as deconstructed and reconstructed camouflage shirts, jumpers made from electric blankets, and shirts that transformed into kites.
Nice Collective has garnered a considerable amount of attention from the media; Joe and Ian has recently been named one of the top American designers in GQ Magazine and Nice Collective has provided clothing for the recent tours of Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins. and The Police.
