Nic Pizzolatto

Nic Pizzolatto (b. in New Orleans, LA) is the author of the short story collection Between Here and the Yellow Sea, which was published by MacAdam Cage in May 2006. He has taught fiction and literature at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the University of Chicago, and will be an Assistant Professor at DePauw University beginning Fall '08. He is married to Amy Pizzolatto.

Between Here and the Yellow Sea was long-listed for the 2006 Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award and named one of the top five fiction debuts of the year by Poets & Writers Magazine. [1] The title story first appeared in the Atlantic Monthly. Other stories by him have appeared in The Atlantic, as well as The Oxford American, The Missouri Review, The Iowa Review, and several other journals. His stories generally take place in the South. Pizzolatto was a finalist for the National Magazine Award for Fiction, in 2004.

His novel, Blind Riders, was finished in fall of 2007 and accepted by his publisher. The novel was scheduled for publication in the fall of 2008, but Pizzolatto pulled the book and has since stated that it wasn't good enough to warrant publication. According to an interview, he is currently at work on other novels and new stories.
