[edit] Real First Line
I've a question. Witch one should be the first line of Nibbler? The sniffs and sounds he makes in the first episode he officially appeared, Love's Labors Lost in Space, or the words "Thank you. I bear many receipts for reimbursement" when he acctually talks in the episode The Day the Earth Stood Stupid.--javoec 19:11, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
If you have to include it, change the category to "First (understandable) line:" Either that, or try to transcribe the chirpy little sound he makes before emerging from the flowerbed and meeting Leela for the first time. BryanEkers 10:45, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Age
Where in the series is his age mentioned? We know he's over 1000 (since he made the prank pizza call that got Fry frozen in the first place (The Why of Fry)) and that his species has been around since before the start of the universe (which isn't to say he has) (The Day the Earth Stood Stupid) but I don't recall his age ever being explicitly mentioned. --DK 04:48, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- I was actually curious about this, as when he chipped his fang in I Second That Emotion, the vet claimed the rings inside his fangs to indicate his age, much like a tree (which, as he counted, indicated he was only five). Though it should be noted that he did claim to be a little woozy from a gazelle kick that morning. Interestingly enough, when I went to check on which episode it was, I found that information already there. I already knew it, but it's nice to have it there to back me up. MasterXiam 06:24, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- The vet was speculating: "If he's anything like the common tree, the rings might indicate his age." Nibbler, even ignoring the information revealed in later episodes, is clearly very little like a common tree. Trees don't, as far as I know, eat ham. BryanEkers 02:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Maybe he's supposed to be 5,000 years old...maybe.
I don't know about what's viewed as authentic and what's not, but the Special Features page on Disk Two of Volume 2 says he's 3,277. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.210.28.19 (talk) 00:19, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think it should be changed to that special features number. The Vet is known to have been wrong about Nimbler's age since "The Why of Fry", and I haven't seen anything higher in the cannoity rating about his age than that Special Feature page. Jon (talk) 01:39, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 17 years not 17 seconds
the race Nibblonian was 17 years old at the time of the big bang.
[edit] nibblers true name
His true name is "nigglesnoosh" from the eppisode "The Day The Earth Stood Stupid". All the nibblonians are sitting at a table watching the brains be defeated and after 'Nibbler'" comment: "Sometimes I wonder if we ARE cute..." the nibblonian sitting next to him says "Oh, Nigglesnoosh!". I rest my case- i know more then wikipedia (or i just dont have a life)! lol
- I consider this to be more of a retort than a name, like saying "Oh nonsense" only it is said in an obviously cute way for comedic purposes. Stardust8212 14:08, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- The "nigglesnoosh" is just another moment when someone (in this particular case, another Nibblonian) finds a Nibblonian cute. I've added relevant text. BryanEkers 02:40, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- It also appears that recently someone decided they would try and change nibblers name to nippler... I can only guess who, it has been fixed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Drendar Morevo (talk • contribs) 08:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC).

I would argue that Nibbler is best understood as two distinct characters. The first character is Nibbler the cute pet, which is his primary role. The second character is Nibbler the hyper intelligent entity which, though much grander, is only a secondary role. When he is referred to as "Lord Nibbler", that is only his secondary character (in the sense that he doesn't wear that hat nearly as often).
Though I don't think this means he deserved two distinct articles, most of this article is about the "Lord Nibbler" character. This makes sense, since that character is much richer, but it probably could be made clearer that most of the time he's just a cute pet (sure, it's mentioned in the article that he's only rarely portrayed as the hyper intelligent entity, but it doesn't seem structured this way). 75.130.108.174 12:51, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "Capable of speech"
This is arguably untrue, or at least undemonstrated that he's capable of English speech. Nibbler actually continues to speak in his chirpy dialect but it seems as though he's speaking English. Note the conversation between him and Leela as they flee Earth in Nibbler's tiny spaceship (The Day the Earth Stood Stupid).
- Leela: If only you could talk.
- Nibblers: [chirps and beeps]
- Leela: Wait! I understood that!
- Nibblers: [chirps and beeps]
- Leela: You say you're transmitting your thoughts directly to my brain?
- Nibbler: Nryeah!
Later, Fiona says "We shall manipulate your mind so we appear to be speaking your language." I'm not sure of the best, easiest way to express this, though, or even if it's strictly necessary. BryanEkers 11:03, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Eyes
I removed the part in the trivia about his third eye not moving when he's pretending to be a pet, because it's simply not true. Check his first appearance or even the image accompanying the article...193.244.32.132 09:12, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Abilities
The abilities section discusses Nibbler's use of his memory-erasing capabilities, specifically mentioning the two instances where he is shown to use it (on Leela and Fry). I sort of feel like a reference should be made to the fact that in Bender's Big Score, all of the Planet Express employees see and hear Nibbler acting intelligently, and he does not wipe their memories. I'm not so sure that this reference belongs in the abilities section, but I feel like this is a fairly relevant fact that seems most appropriate in the Nibbler article. Any thoughts/agreement/disagreement? CharacterZero | Speak 15:31, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Purpose?
I would say it's not fair to say that the writers of Futurama had a purpose planned for Nibbler far in advance. If you listen to the commentary for "Jurassic Bark" they discuss that after it was revealed that Fry was pushed into the freezer tube by Nibbler, they went back and re-animated the shadow of Nibbler into "Space Pilot 3000" and the shadows of Nibbler and Fry into "Jurassic Bark" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ne0logic17 (talk • contribs) 18:21, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- The orginial airing of "Space Pilot 3000 included Nibler's shadow, it wasn't added later to the DVDs like Star Wars. Also, starting in season 4, Fry's shadow (revealed in Why of Fry) were added. Jon (talk) 01:47, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Similarities
Don't you think nibbler is based on pingu? I know there is no evidence to support the idea but he is black and white, small, and talks in gibberish very similarily to the little guy :D SleweD (talk) 09:06, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
