NGC 7027 is a planetary nebula, with a white dwarf at its centre. The Sun-like star is approaching the end of its life, having passed through a red giant phase. The nebula has been formed by stellar material having been expelled from the star over a period of thousands of years - a small period of time, considering the star probably has existed for about 10 billion years. It was photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope in 1996.
