[edit] Arabic script of name

Does anyone know what the Arabic-alphabet version of the guy's name is? I was searching Google for various plausible variant Arabic spellings of "Nizar" that I could think of, in combination with الهنداوي , هنداوي , الهنداوى , and/or هنداوى , but nothing really seemed to be the one. "نزار الهنداوي" gets quite enough Google hits. Is that him? --tyomitch 05:24, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] longest sentence in british criminal history

Both this article and Robert Fisk (in the great war for civilisation) claim that Hindawi recieved the longest sentence in british criminal history. How can this be right? surely people have been sentenced for longer than 45 years? What about transportation for life (to America or Australia). That is part of British criminal history. I don't want to take it out though cause it is also in Fisk's book and Fisk is well respected. Anyone got any ideas? The bellman 00:32, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

This record doesn't include life sentences. See life imprisonment and whole life tariff for more about the law in that area. Hindawi evidently got the longest sentence in the form of an explicit number of years. The UK doesn't do the several-hundred-year consecutive sentences seen in some jurisdictions. British convicts have spent longer than 45 years in prison, see for example John Straffen, who died last November after 55 years in prison on a commuted death sentence. For a recent sentencing of someone who could be inside for well over 45 years, see Trevor Hamilton, who was 23 when he was given a whole life tariff in 2006. 79.68.137.102 (talk) 19:44, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
