The article states
"Among the lakes is Lake Peigneur, which was formerly a freshwater lake until a disaster involving oil drilling and a salt mine. The lake is now salt water, having been refilled by the Gulf of Mexico."
But Lake Peigneur is several miles to the southwest of New Iberia, and is a mile or so north of Delcambre, not to mention the fact that Lake Peigneur's salinity tends to be graduated the deeper you go into the lake near where the oil rig punctured the salt dome. I would change it, but I'm too lazy to do so (which doesn't explain why I actually started a talk page for New Iberia!)

[edit] Evangeline in New Iberia?
The article states "This region has many natural features of interest and is the scene of part of Longfellow's Evangeline."
Is this correct? I recall St. Martinville, in neighboring St. Martin Parish, being mentioned in Longfellow's Evangeline, but not New Iberia.

I checked the text of "Evangeline" and it contains no references to New Iberia; it does, however, mention St. Martinville. So I deleted the reference to "Evangeline" occurring in the New Iberia area.
