Is this really a distinct currency from CFP franc? If so, from when to when. This article seems to have much overlap with CFP franc. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 03:15, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

The CFP franc only came in in 1945. There were distinct francs in circulation on New Caledonia from much earlier. The situation is a bit like on the Isle of Man. The currency is effectively sterling from an economic perspective but is physically distinct. In this case, the currency used on New Caledonia is economically the same as that used in French Polynesia, in that both are the CFP franc, but the two coinages are distinct and they used to have distinct banknotes. I intend to write another article, French Polynesian franc and then edit CFP franc to make everything clear. Give me a day or two and then let me know what you think.
