From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Newport Concours d'Elegance is a Classic Car exposition founded in 2006 by partners Mark Hurwitz (Chairman) and John W. Lyons (Vice Chairman). This event invites very significant automobiles to be displayed for the general public to enjoy. The event is produced to raise money for charity. The 2006 charities were Heifer Project International, Hole In The Wall Gang Camps and the Jimmy Fund.

The 2006 event held the weekend of May 26, 2006, included a golf tournament, vintage road tour of historic Newport Rhode Island, two fund raising gala dinners and the Concours d'Elegance held at Astor's Beachwood Mansion.

The 2007 event featured boattail speedsters and skiff style automobiles. All activities were held on the lawns of elegant Oceanfront Mansions, providing unmatched scenic vistas and a refreshing ocean breeze.

For 2008, The Newport Concours d'Elegance plans to revive and highlight the 'marriage' between the custom coachbuilder and fashion designer, prevalent during the Art Deco period.
