Newark Pepper

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Newark Pepper was a Federal League baseball club in Newark, New Jersey in 1915. The previous year, they played in Indiana as the Indianapolis Hoosiers. They had won the Federal League championship in Indianapolis in 1914 but slumped to fifth a year later. The Peppers folded when the Federal League went out of business after two seasons.

In Newark, they played at Harrison Park, in the town of Harrison, New Jersey, across the Passaic River from downtown Newark.

Notable players on the Peppers included Ed Reulbach, Cy Falkenberg, and future Baseball Hall of Fame members Edd Roush and Bill McKechnie.
