New York State Route 368 (also known as NY 368) was one of the shortest routes in Onondaga County, New York until its removal in April 1980. The route was 1.69 miles (2.71 kilometres) long, stretching through the towns of Elbridge and Skaneateles. The southern terminus was at New York State Route 321 in Skaneateles, while the northern terminus was at New York State Route 5 in Elbridge. The route was part of the maintenance swaps between Onondaga County and New York State in April 1980. The route was replaced by County Route 107.

Route 368, 23-27 years after its decommissioning, has appeared in the 2003 Onondaga County Traffic Counts and the 2007 state route traffic counts. The documents show current designation CR 107 as Old Route 368.[4][5]

Route 368 began at an intersection with New York State Route 321 in Skaneateles, just north of the village.[6] Just near the southern terminus was the Carpenters Brook County Fish Hatchery. Route 368 headed in different directions through farmlands of rural Onondaga County. It first turned to the northwest towards downtown Elbridge, intersecting with local roads and entering the hamlet of Halfway (a hamlet of Skaneateles). The road left the town of Skaneateles and into the town of Elbridge before paralleling a creek and terminating at New York State Route 5.[6]

[edit] History

Route 368 was added into the route system by 1947 on its current routing and last appeared in the United States Geological Survey's Digital Roster Quadrangles in 1978.[3][7] The route was swapped over to Onondaga County for future maintenance on April 1, 1980.[2] The route was replaced by County Route 107 and is to this date unsigned.[8][9] Other routes given to the county in the swap included nearby New York State Route 31B in village of Elbridge.[2]
