New York State Route 140 is a state highway in New York. The highway runs from the hamlet of Slingerlands to the hamlet of Elsmere. NY 140 is entirely located within Albany County.
NY 140 starts as a four-lane divided highway for the first mile, having one intersection along the way before a light at Kenwood Avenue. There, NY 140 turns left and is a 2-lane avenue to its terminus. Albany County Route 52 continues straight ahead. To the right, Kenwood Avenue serves as a shortcut to NY 85 west.

Route 140 begins at an intersection with New York State Route 85 in the town of Slingerlands. The highway heads eastward, as a four-lane divided highway known as the Cherry Avenue Extension. The route passes through fields in southern Albany County as it curves to the south. Route 140's divided highway comes to an end at Kenwood Avenue, a road which 140 absorbs. This 2-lane avenue heads through residential regions as it continues to the east. Route 140 enters Elsmere and passes businesses before terminating at an intersection with New York State Route 443.[2]
