The New York State Racing and Wagering Board is the official governing body that oversees horse racing, chairtable gaming, and Indian casino gaming in New York State. Its main office is located at 86 Chambers Street, New York City, NY 10007.

The Racing and Wagering Board has three board members appointed by the Governor of New York State, with the consent of the state senate.[1] The current governor of New York is David A. Paterson, who designates the chairman of the board.[1] The current chairman of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board is Daniel D. Hogan, and its members are John B. Simoni and Michael J. Hoblock, Jr., a former state senator. [1]

The board regulates three related fields:

  1. horse racing
  2. charitable gaming[2] and
  3. Indian casino gaming.[3]

The board promulgates rules and regulations about gaming.[4] The board is also a quasi-judicial boady that issues rulings on specific licenses and activities.[5] [6]
