New York Air National Guard

The New York Air National Guard is the component of the United States Air National Guard operating within the state of New York. It is one of the two components of the New York National Guard.

NYANG operates Air Support units and is part of the Northeast Air Defense Sector.

The Northeast Air Defense Sector (NEADS) is located at Griffiss Business and Technology Park on the former Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York.

The NYANG units operate a variety of aircraft including:

  • C-5B Galaxy transports
  • F-16C Fighting Falcon fighters
  • US Air Force's only "Skibirds": Lockheed C-130 Hercules transports with skis
  • Lockheed HC-130P Hercules transport and tanker
  • Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters
  • Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker tankers
