New Sound Radio is a future radio station for the city of Nottingham in central England. It will broadcast from a recently built, state of the art control centre located four miles south of the city centre. In addition to this, there is a small studio and production facility located elsewhere in the county, this facility will be primarily used to produce local news and weather reports, all National and International reports will however come directly from Independent Radio News in central London.

[edit] Format

The station broadcasts nothing but back-to-back popular music; tracks which have entered the UK Singles Chart in the last 30 years. In addition the station also broadcasts live national and international news updates at the top of each hour, followed by a local weather report for Nottingham, and the surrounding area.

[edit] Future

New Sound Radio hope to begin 3 day, Restricted Service Licence (RSL) broadcasts on the FM band in Nottingham in the not too distant future.

As yet, the station do not intend applying for any form of full-time licence to broadcast in the FM band, and it is extremely unlikely the station will ever be granted one. However, the station are looking at the possibilities of launching a full-time service on Sky Digital and Virgin Media Cable, as well DRM, the new digital radio format which uses the existing AM band.
