New Rockabilly is a hybrid form of music which mixes elements of 1950s Rock "n" Roll with traditional Rockabilly and a small element of country music. The basic line up for a "New Rockabilly" band would be reverb/echo treated vocals and a must would be the stand-up bass and twangy fifties style guitar. The main difference to that of traditional Rockabilly would be the emphasis on the use of melody and the fact that twelve bar blues rifts and chord sequences are omitted. Also the use of modern musical advances such as sequencers and digital fx technology are warmly welcomed.
Musicians that could be placed in the category of "New Rockabilly" would be artists such as Chris Isaak and The Blue Cougars.
