New Madrid Sequence

The New Madrid Sequence is a period of four consecutive earthquakes along the New Madrid Fault. Two occurred on December 16, 1811 in Arkansas, while one occurred the following year on January 23, 1812, and the final quake on February 7, 1812 in Missouri. These earthquakes measured from 7.0 to 7.9 on the Richter scale.
