New Canaan High School is part of the FCIAC athletic conference. The school's main rival is Darien High School. Each year during the weekend of Thanksgiving, the two schools' football teams meet in the "Turkey Bowl," an annual tradition.
The school has one of the best lacrosse programs in the state, built up by ex-coach Howard Benedict. The school mascot is the Ram, and its colors are red and black.
