State Route 156 is one of two state highways linking US 95 with the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest northwest of Las Vegas.
Prior to the 1978 statewide renumbering, State Route 156 was the eastern part of State Route 52.
This Route is a Nevada Scenic Byway.
