Hello, and also a warm welcome from me. I saw your contribution at Characteristic sequence and I am not sure what to make from it. I assume that you mean that given a sequence (an) with a_n\in A, the characteristic sequence of a set B \subset A is the sequence (bn) with bn = χB(an), with χB being the characteristic function. Could you please tell us in which discipline within mathematics this definition is used? It is not in the standard undergraduate curriculum, is it? Also, a reference would be very nice indeed. I don't know whether you are specializing in mathematics in some way, but if you want to ask maths-specific questions, you can do so at my talk page at User talk:Jitse Niesen; specific guidance can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics.
