NIS is also 'Network Information System' - an Information (software) System for the Electricity (and other) Networks. Such an information system may be based on GIS (Geographical Information System), combining geographical, graphic and alphanumeric data, enablling to maintain information regarding the network, designing new network and network changes, as well as supporting network operation and maintenance. NIS for electricity networks may supports all or some of the voltage levels- Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV).
