Non-free / fair use media rationale for Tetris
Description

Box art for Tetris for Nintendo Entertainment System

Source

box scan via Blockstats

Article

Tetris

Portion used

entire cover

Low resolution?

Not nearly high enough to print a convincing counterfeit box cover

Purpose of use

for the infobox to identify authentic Tetris games in the context of critical commentary about the franchise

Replaceable?

No. The Tetris Company has never authorized a Tetris product to be published as free software. Replacing this with a screenshot of a free tetromino game would be like putting an OpenOffice.org Writer screenshot at the top of the article Microsoft Word. Upload all the screenshots of free tetromino games you want, but keep them in List of Tetris variants, not in Tetris.
