Nervous is a rockabilly/doo-wop song first recorded by Gene Summers and His Rebels in 1958 and later covered by Robert Gordon/Link Wray, USA, Johnny Devlin, New Zealand, The Lonestars, Finland, Rock-Ola & The Freewheelers, Finland, The Memphis Rockabilly Band, USA and others.

The song was composed by Mary Tarver in 1957, published by Ted Music, BMI and issued on Jan/Jane Records (11-106). The record was distributed nationally under the Jay-Gee (Jubilee) Records banner. The "Nervous" recording session took place at Liberty Records Studios in Hollywood, California in June, 1958 and featured an all-star cast of A-Team session musicians that included: Rene Hall - guitar; James McClung - guitar; Plas Johnson - Sax; Earl Palmer - Drums and George "Red" Callendar - bass. The background vocal group was the Five Masks (Al "TNT" Bragg, Cal Valentine, Robert Valentine, Billy Fred Thomas and Jesse Lee Floyd). The Five Masks had earlier appeared in the cult movie "Rock Baby Rock It" under the pseudonym of The Five Stars. The Five Masks also recorded "Polly Molly" and "Forever And A Day" at this same all-night Liberty session. It was released on Jan (11-101) in 1958.

"Nervous" was flipped with "Gotta Lotta That" an upbeat, rockabilly song that was also recorded during this same Liberty session. "Gotta Lotta That" was composed by Bernice Bedwell who had earlier written "Lotta Lovin' " for Gene Vincent & the Blue Caps.
