Nelson Cunningham

Nelson Cunningham is an American. He spent part of his childhood in Latin America, where he became fluent in Spanish. He attended Yale College and Stanford Law School. He subsequently worked for Hale and Dorr, a private top-tier law firm in Boston. In 1988, he was hired by Rudolph Giuliani to serve as an Assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of New York in Manhattan. In 1994-95, he served as General Counsel of the Senate Judiciary Committee under then-chairman Joseph R. Biden. From 1995-98 he served on the White House staff under President Bill Clinton and advised John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign on Western Hemisphere and international economic and trade issues. In 1998, he cofounded what is now known at McLarty Associates, a Washington DC-based strategic advisory firm that advises companies on government and strategic issues around the world. It was formerly known as Kissinger McLarty Associates. Washington, D.C.
