Funny, there is no village called "Neanderthal" (or Neandertal) here. There is only a railway station called "Neanderthal" [1] and of course the valley of Neander ("Neandertal"). The villages in the vicinity are called "Hochdahl", "Gruiten", "Erkrath" and "Mettmann". --Walter, Hochdahl

[edit] Nom-de-plume

I'm not sure that technically Neander is a nom-de-plume (pen name), if his grandfather actually legally changed the family name from Neumann. I do not know that that is true.

But nom-de-plume is probably wrong.

[edit] Neandertal, not Neanderthal

The name of the valley is Neandertal, not Neanderthal. (see German article). Only the Neanderthal Man is written with an "h". -- 84.132.102.131 (talk) 07:56, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
