[edit] History
Ayatollah Khomeini at Neauphle-le-Chateau
October 8, 1978: expelled from Iraq, Ayatollah Khomeini continued his exile and found a roof in Neauphle-le-Château, from where he returned to his native Iran on February 1, 1979. Thus, Teheran now has a Neauphle-le-Château street where the embassy of France is located. The property where he resided, at the corner of the Chevreuse Road and Jardins Path has long been fenced off and locked and the former dwelling is now destroyed.
