Nazi belt buckle pistol

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The belt buckle pistol was a unique experimental German World War II officer's emergency defense weapon consisting of four aligned .22 caliber gun barrels concealed within a heavy large metal belt buckle.

[edit] Operation

Precise operation unknown; however, from the double photographic source the weapon appears to be both spring loaded and activated. A thumb safety catch seems to be located on the top of the buckle and when the operator theoretically undid the buckle and released the safety then the firing block of 4 rounds sprung 90 degrees to fire forward directly from the waist level.

[edit] History

It appears that this was some form of experimental close-range escape weapon for officers. The Allies reported no such use of this weapon in their encounters.
