good, stout engine! I've driven trucks with the DT466 and was amazed at how quiet it is for a diesel. Nice article!--Lpimlott 02:09, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] DT 666E Start Problems.
I have a question for a DT466E Expert out there.... Currently running a 1998 International 4900 with this engine. Purchased the truk with 323K and it now has 480K. This truck has a cronic "No Start" problem unless it is plugged in. Outside ambient temperature has no affect on it's ability to start. Even in the hot summers, it won't start if not plugged in.
We have ruled out fuel bleed off, we have replaced all the injectors and the High Pressure Oil Pump. We have replaced the High Pressure Sensor and we have installed manual fuel line shutoffs o rule out bleed back. Bottom line...nothing so far has made a lick of difference. My repair shop is workikng me over with the old process of elimination and my bank account is suffering but the truck still will not start cold.
To answer your possible questions, the truck runs like a top all day long with lots of power and has logged no trouble codes in it's computer until recently. Now i enters a trouble code after it reaches operating temperature and that code is for possible high pressure oil problem.
Do I need another pump or has someone out there had similar experiences and can point me in a more definite direction 142.179.33.156 02:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
