Talk:Naval Service

[edit] definition
According to the MOD's official defence statistics glossary (link on article page) and BR 8373 [Naval] Officers' Career Regulations, the naval servcice consists of RN and RM. The other services are not even military so are really unlikely to be included in a military service. In addition, an MOD glossary exists specifically to define such terms. This is also the definition on the template. There is only one (supposed, improperly cited) source for the alternative defintion of a military-and-civilian Naval Service, which is an inadequate counter-argument. - You cannot seriously believe that a glossary on a MOD webpage is more authoritative than The Queen's Regulations for the Royal Navy (formerly known as Queen's Regulations and Admiralty Instructions for the Government of Her Majesty's Naval Service (QR&AI))! Even your citation from BR8373 is contradicted by the glossary in BR1806, and both are in any case inferior in authority to QRRN.
- Unless you can find a source with more authority than QRRN, may I suggest that you leave this article well alone? Andrew Yong 11:13, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
