(Oct. 4, 2002) -- Admiral Vern Clark, Chief of Naval Operations congratulates Mr. John Burlage, Senior Staff Writer for “Navy Times” after presenting him the Superior Public Service Award. Burlage is noted for his coverage of issues that affected Sailors’ lives over the past 18 years. Burlage is a retired Master Chief Journalist who engaged in challenging assignments over a naval career spanning 25-years. The Superior Public Service Award is the second highest civilian award and recognizes "the significant contributions by a civilian to the Navy, Marine Corps or the entire Department of the Navy.
