Talk:Naudiz
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I wondered if the rune's reconstructed name should be "naudhiz", rather than "naudiz", considering that that is the sound in Gothic and Norse...
- It is quite possible, but both Gothic and Old Norse have a lot of instances where Proto-Germanic d has become ð/þ, so that's not evidence that the Proto-Germanic form should have a þ. On the other hand Etymology Online ( http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=need ) supports your theory, so I think you're correct. - Gustav —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.255.203.210 (talk) 21:57, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
