Nauthólsvík
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nauthólsvík is the only beach in Iceland in which one can bathe. It's situated on the south coast of the capital, Reykjavík. The reason why one can swim at Nauthólsvík, despite the cold sea surrounding Iceland, is that the sea is partly warmed up by pumping warm water into the sea. Nauthólsvík offers some bathing facilities, like showers and dressing rooms.
The beach is only open during the summer and is behind the Perlan restaurant and Reykjavik Airport which can been seen clearly from the beach.
