Nathan, I appreciate your edits on various Tibetian related topics, but it is not always helpful to translate every tibetan word including those commonly known in English in to (I presume) Wylie transliteration! In fact in most cases it is confusing and unhelpful where the usual English spelling is not given. For example in Kagyu you removed the word Kagyu from the first sentence and some sunsequent occurences rendering the whole article unreadable. Billlion 18:36, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Mr. Hill,

Sorry for not replying earlier, but I was wondering, in your spelling of many things in Tibetan, you forget to take in account that many people who know about Ü-Tsang, Kham, etc. will not know what you are talking about, so I suggest that you put the most common spellings for all these names in parenthesis so they know what you're trying to say.

Nathan, there are two different spellings of Urgyen Trinley Dorje around, the other is Ogyen Trinley Dorje. Is there a reason to prefer one over the other from the point of view of pronunciation? (of course another question is how he writes his name himself in roman letters). Could you add the Wylie transliteration to that article as well as there is clearly confusion over how the name should be pronunced? Billlion 18:27, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hello, this is what the main page of the Tibetan Wikipedia looks like for me on my computer, with the text enlarged considerably by me. I have Mac OS 10.4.1. I was wondering, is this how the Tibetan script is supposed to look? Something just doesn't seem right. Are there any fonts that I should have? If you know what's wrong with the text, please help me out. Thank you very much. ---User:Hottentot

Please don't leave Wikipedia... I'm an admin here and I would be very saddened by the loss of a knowledgeable contributor. Some editors here can get rather irrational or rash in their edits. I know this can get frustrating. But please don't leave because of it. I'm willing to discuss with you anything that you don't agree with and learn new things from our discussions.

For example, the Tangut Empire issue. I must admit that I don't agree with you at all. Perhaps this is because I'm ignorant. If so, then this ignorance is shared between me and all 1.3 billion Chinese people. So, even in the name of dispelling ignorance, please come to Talk:Tangut Empire and discuss the issue over. Hi Nathan, could you check all Wylie transliterations that you contribute in the future? On the Dalai Lama page, for example, you gave the Wylie for Tenzin Gyatso as brtan-'dzin rgya-mtsho, when it should have been bstan-'dzin rgya-mtsho. (Please correct me if I'm wrong though.) Also, earlier on you gave gzhi-ka-rtse instead of gzhis-ka-rtse for Shigatse.

I hope I'm not sounding too pushy... You are obviously very knowledgeable about the topic and you have contributed extensively to Tibet-related topics, and I know that Tibetan spelling, with all of the silent letters and so forth, is very tricky to master. Certainly I wouldn't be able to contribute any Wylie spellings independently (I don't exactly know the entire alphabet by heart either), so we're really depending on you for most of our Wylie spellings. So please, check all the Wylie's that you contribute in the future... I was nearly going to put the wrong Tibetan letters into the Tenzin Gyatso article. -- ran (talk) July 3, 2005 06:03 (UTC)
