As far as I could tell from the website the National Forest Company is a private company and neither it nor the government owns the land in this forest. Is that correct? Rmhermen 16:54, Feb 9, 2004 (UTC)

The land in the forest is all privately owned but the land owners are encouraged and given grants to plant trees. It would be impossible for the government or a private company to own the land as there are many villages and towns accross the area aswell as farms. (this is also one of the big differences between US and UK National Parks where UK government agencies only act as planning authorities to protect parks, but do not own any of the land)--Cap 12:59, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The picture does not seem to have any significant connection with the National Forest...

There is a very good photo on the geograph website http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/89395 which would be more relevant as it shows the Conkers discovery centre surrounded by newly planted woodland. I have now uploaded this to the article --Cap 20:00, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
