The National Network for Educational Renewal (NNER), dedicated to the simultaneous renewal of P-12 and teacher education, began in 1987 through the work and research of John I. Goodlad and his colleagues.
The NNER leads by example as it strives to improve simultaneously the quality of education for participants in our democracy and the quality of perparation of educators for our schools through school/university partnerships.
The Network has a four-part mission that advances education in a democracy, which is as follows:
. provide access to knowledege for all children
. educate the young for thoughtful participation in a social and political democracy;
. base teaching on knowledge of the subjects taught, established principals of learning, and senitivity to the unique potential of learners;
. take responsibility for improving the conditions for learning in P-12 schools, institutions of higher education and communities
Membership Benefits The National Network for Educational Renewal provides professional development for those interested in advancing the social and political democracy. Our growing membership of higher education institutions and local education agencies in partnership with communities support one another through shared learning, idea exchange, and advancing policy and quality practices that support our mission. Our overarching strategy to advance the AED is through the simultaneous renewal of P- 12 education and institutions that prepare educators for our schools. Members enjoy strong partnerships across institutions and true networking opportunities.
