Nathan Handwerker

Nathan Handwerker (b. July 14, 1892 in Poland - died 1974) was a Polish-American entrepreneur most connected to the Nathan's Famous brand of hot dogs.

Handwerker immigrated from Poland and came to the United States in 1912 and went to work in a restaurant in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York . In 1916, he opened a nickel hot dog stand on the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island. This fast food chain developed into Nathan's Famous.
